Open land maps for Beyond All Reason

Rolling ground, soft hills, a few plateaus. The map most games are played on.

Basic is the generator’s workhorse: open, rolling terrain with gentle slopes, the odd plateau and ridge, and metal spread across the whole map rather than bunched at the spawns. There is no single choke to hold, so the game is decided by expansion speed and by who reads the map first.

It is the style to pick when you want Beyond All Reason as most people know it — tanks and bots in the open, raids on the far metal, artillery creeping up the middle — on ground nobody has seen.

Made for: 8×8 to 32×32, 2 to 16 players, 2 teams up to FFA. Every map is mirrored, so both sides get the same ground and the same metal.

How it plays

What to build on a open land map

Ground

Vehicles do well everywhere. Bots pay for their speed on the few slopes and win the raids.

Air and sea

Air is useful but not decisive; there is no cliff line to hide behind. Rarely any water worth a shipyard.

Economy

Metal is evenly spread, so claim the middle early. Reclaim is modest: about 600 metal per start.

Straight out of the generator

3 open land maps, untouched

From the gallery: one press of Generate map each, nothing edited. The name under a map rebuilds it.

Offline, against the AI

Open Eclipse, press Create, choose Against AI, offline, pick BASIC as the style and a size. Eclipse generates the map and starts Beyond All Reason on it.

In a room

Type !genmap 4v4 BASIC (or 1v1, 2v2, 3v3) in the room chat. Everyone in the room gets the same map by name, nobody sends a file.

Change your mind

Did not like this one? Generate again. The same style gives a different map every time, and the map name brings any of them back.
