Fractal navy maps for Beyond All Reason

Fractal terrain with the sea let in. Coasts, inlets and channels nobody planned.

Fractal Navy applies the noise-shaped terrain to a flooded map: ragged coasts, inlets, channels and islands all come out of the same noise. Some games are mostly land with a few channels; some are mostly water.

Expect to adapt. The map decides whether this is a land game with ships or a sea game with beaches.

Made for: 8×8 to 32×32, up to 16 players. Every map is mirrored, so both sides get the same ground and the same metal.

How it plays

What to build on a fractal navy map

Ground

Land where the noise left it; often broken into pieces joined by shallows.

Air and sea

Ships in the channels, hovers across the shallows, air over everything.

Economy

Metal on land and in the water; the shallows are usually the richest.

Offline, against the AI

Open Eclipse, press Create, choose Against AI, offline, pick FRACTAL_NAVY as the style and a size. Eclipse generates the map and starts Beyond All Reason on it.

In a room

Type !genmap 4v4 FRACTAL_NAVY (or 1v1, 2v2, 3v3) in the room chat. Everyone in the room gets the same map by name, nobody sends a file.
