Mountain range maps for Beyond All Reason

Ranges that divide the map, passes that join it. Bots over the top, tanks through the gaps.

Mountain Range lays long ridges across the map and leaves passes and plateaus between them. Everything about it rewards knowing where the gaps are: an army that goes through the right pass arrives, one that goes through the wrong one meets the guns.

This is the bot style. Climbing units cross the ridges where vehicles have to go round, so a bot raid can reach metal that looks safe on the minimap.

Made for: 8×8 to 20×20, up to 16 players. Every map is mirrored, so both sides get the same ground and the same metal.

How it plays

What to build on a mountain range map

Ground

Passes are chokes for vehicles only; bots ignore them. Plateaus are artillery country.

Air and sea

Air is the great equaliser on a mountain map, and so are anti-air walls on the plateaus.

Economy

Metal in the valleys between the ranges; the plateaus carry less but keep it safer.

Offline, against the AI

Open Eclipse, press Create, choose Against AI, offline, pick MOUNTAIN_RANGE as the style and a size. Eclipse generates the map and starts Beyond All Reason on it.

In a room

Type !genmap 4v4 MOUNTAIN_RANGE (or 1v1, 2v2, 3v3) in the room chat. Everyone in the room gets the same map by name, nobody sends a file.
